Ok, so up until not too long ago, I've really had no real incentive to get a PS3.  Yeah there's been a few decent titles, it's got blu ray, yada yada, but there really wasn't enough to persuade me...until now. 

First, thing was the whole blu ray thing and I had HD DVD, so I had no immediate need (want) for the other HD format.  Well HD DVD is dead now, and most blu ray players alone are over $300; either approaching or exceeding the price of a PS3.  That alone could be the reason for me to get one now.  If I want to get a blu ray player, why not spend just as much and get a PS3?

Now blu ray is all well and good, but more importantly, what about games?  Well the PS3 is actually starting to garner a decent list of current and future exclusives that are making me hard pressed to find a reason why I shouldn't own a PS3 right now.  Here's a brief list of current and future titles I'd definitely add to my library...

Current Releases:

• Resistance: Fall of Man -- one of the PS3's big launch titles that got some very good reviews, despite being released amongst all the halo 3 madness...and it's an FPS...PLUS with Resistance 2 coming out soon, I'd need to be up-to-date on the story
• Ninja Gaiden Sigma -- another one of the top reviewed PS3 titles...I've been playing Ninja Gaiden II recently on Xbox 360 and love it....sigma's supposed to be as good or better than NGII
• Echochrome -- PSN puzzle game that just looks reallly cool
• Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots -- c'mon...who hasn't heard of this one...the first "must have" title for the PS3....sure fire GOTY nominee...pretty much a no-brainer

Future Releases:

• Resistance 2 -- vids look intense...up to 16 player campaign co-op...TWO campaigns!...up to 60 player online play!! ...phew, probably another no-brainer
• Killzone 2 -- not a whole bunch of info on how this is gonna turn out for sure yet, but up to this point it looks verrry promising...supposed "in game" vids up to this point look amazing...first killzone on the PS2 wasn't a bad game either

last but not least...

• God of War 3 -- God of War 1 and 2 are two of my favorite games of all time, so this release ALONE would push me to get a PS3...simply put, God of War 3 could be the best reviewed game ever once it comes out, and that will be saying a LOT with some of the titles released and yet to be released in the past year

Now, even with all those reasons, there have been price drops, hardware changes (hard drive capacity, dual shock 3), firmware updates, etc etc etc, on the PS3 to further at to the list of reasons why it should set on the right shelf next to my tv (360's on the left).  Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, haha), the 360 is slated for a laundry list of exclusives and multi-platform titles (I'd still get multiplatform titles for 360...XBL pwns PSN), on top of all the titles I have and have yet to get to play (GTA4, UT3, Dark Sector, Turok, finish Ninja Gaiden II), so getting a PS3 would probably mean I'd have to reach some new levels of time management skill if I ever want to get anything done at all outside of work again.

Well, I dunno about you, but those look like pretty definitive arguements.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm still partial to the 360.  The number of worthwhile titles for the 360 are far better, and some of the ones coming up are destined to be for sure GOTY nominees (GOW2 anyone?).  However, as a gamer first and foremost, I owe it to myself to give the PS3 some attention.  So from now until the forseeable future, if you call and get my voicemail....I'll call you back as soon as I can save or hit "PAUSE".
